Winter Solstice: For the Joy!

Cheers this holiday season! Love and blessings upon blessings flow from me to you this eve of the solstice. The sun will enter Capricorn at 4:11 am MST 12-21-12, officially marking the winter solstice, the time when the sun reaches its furthest point in its journey south, resulting in the darkest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. From December 21-23, the sun will appear to rise in the same spot on the eastern horizon for three days. This is why the day of the solstice and the two days following  are an excellent time for releasing the outworn structures that no longer serve a meaningful purpose in your life. And especially this year 2012, as the sun aligns with the black hole at the core of our galaxy, the cosmic weather is extra potent with transforming energies.

For me, 2012 has been one of the most challenging years. I know that's been true for many of you as well. It's been humbling to really see all the ways my human ego has mastered the art of sabotaging my deepest desires with its ridiculousness. It surprises me how creative the ego can be in masking its defenses, attachments, fears, self-doubts and even self-loathing. It's not easy to see the love where it appears not to be. But like a wise elder with a small child, when I'm able to see the woundedness behind the ego's shenanigan's, it fills my heart with compassion and my belly with laughter. And belly laughing is so liberating! Magically, it gives me new eyes. Suddenly I see it as God sees it--absolutely perfect in its seeming imperfection. Just a journey back to love.

Simple kindness to one's self and all that lives is the most powerful transformational force of all. ~ David R. Hawkins

It's a strange world we live in--so full of both wonders and horrors of every nature and quality. What's long been considered "normal" has resulted in many of us adopting roles imposed by society, ones that don't fit us but we succumb to them because we want to fit in and belong. We say yes when we feel no and we say no when we feel yes--we do all sorts of ridiculous things just to feel valued and loved. Yet, that strategy isn't going to work anymore because, (as you may have already discovered), wherever there is falsehood, there is now a misery too great to ignore. Top of that list of misery producing, is that broken record that plays over and over again in many of our heads, the one that says, "you are not enough"--not lovable, not worthy, not talented--whatever it may be, it's rubbish!

We are discovering that when we think thoughts like that about ourself or others, we just don't feel good at all.  Because our true nature is to love it all. So, love your idiosyncrasies. Love all that makes you uniquely you. Give love to all that you judge as despicable about yourself. Love that you're alive and having a human experience. Love that a part of that experience of being human is messing up and making mistakes. It's okay! That's how we grow and evolve. Just love it all.

We are all enough. More than that, we each share the mission of being a source of miracles in the lives of others. We never know when just a smile on our lips is the miracle in another person's day. We are each a vehicle for pouring more and more loving kindness into the world. What the world needs now is love. Each and every one of us, in some integral way, fills a missing piece in the wholeness of life. No other person can fill your spot but you. It's important that you remember that now.

Ultimately, the purpose of life is to be the fullest expression of who you uniquely are--to share and give and demonstrate awareness of yourself as a creative being. Use this weekend to acknowledge the awesome miracle that you are. That will cultivate the profoundly healing energy the cosmos are generating. The fun of this new year is going to be in discovering that loving kindness, patience, and compassion toward others flows quite freely once you are feeling the fullness of love for yourself.

Every moment in life is an unparalleled opportunity for you to inwardly declare, express and experience the Divinity within. ~Neale Donald Walsch

Take yourself as you find yourself and just start right here and now to be the loving, playful, creative being that you are. Have fun with life. Take risks. Trust yourself. Get to know yourself better each day and grow a little closer to your authentic being. This transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius involves discovering that the ultimate in human experience comes from living fully awake while also fully engaged in whatever experience life has placed before you. That's empowering! From that awareness you get to consciously choose who you are in relationship to whatever happens. That's the fun in the human journey--to come off auto-pilot and live wide awake. Then, whatever is happening, you can observe your experience without judging it as right or wrong or good or bad. It just is what it is and you demonstrate who you are by how you respond to it. And that makes all the wonderful difference.
